Hill+Knowlton Strategies strengthens Issues + Crisis team

LONDON– Hill+Knowlton Strategies UK (H+K) has strengthened its expanding Issues + Crisis Team with the appointment of former journalist Jon Wynne-Jones as a Senior Consultant.

Jon will work with Tim Luckett, Chair of Global Crisis Communications + Risk Management, providing strategic counsel to clients across all the agency’s sectors with a particular focus on overseeing the team’s sport reputation offering. Jon joins from Burson-Marsteller, where his clients included FIFA, the IOC, FIA, and Russia’s Ministry of Sport.

Described as “unmatched in shaping the news agenda” by the British Press Awards, Jon was a senior reporter at The Telegraph and deputy news editor at The Independent, during a decade working for national papers. He has written for titles ranging from the Guardian and New Statesman to The Mail on Sunday and Spectator, and has been nominated three times for the British Press Awards.

As a corporate communications consultant, Jon has worked with a wide variety of UK and global clients, including Danone, Rezidor Carlson, Kimberly Clark and the governments of Egypt, Tunisia, and Jamaica. He advised the CEOs of companies including BodyShop and Mitsubishi, as well as senior politicians.

At Burson-Marsteller, he created and implemented a six-month strategy for Russia’s ministry of sport to repair the country’s image following its doping scandal, and worked with FIFA as it tried to restore its reputation after claims of bribery and corruption.

Tim Luckett, Chair of Global Crisis Communications + Risk Management team commented: “Jon is a tremendous hire. I am very pleased to welcome him to H+K to join our growing practice. He has a rare combination of both journalism and communications experience at the top level, and his insights will be invaluable to current and prospective clients across H+K.”

Jon said: “I’m excited to be working for H+K as it is an agency with such a strong crisis reputation and impressive list of clients. Businesses are facing a wide range of challenges to their reputation and I look forward to bringing my experience from journalism and complex client work to benefit the companies we work with.”
